Software Information for the Year 2000
Background of the millennium bug
Many computer programs and operating systems have been working so far with two-digit date fields, thus restricting the display of the year to its last two digits, e.g. "98” stands for 1998. For the turn to the year 2000, this function will lead to an incorrect interpretation of the date within the system especially when used for calculations as "00" will be mathematically lower than "99". Having made sense in the beginning of programming when memory was limited and expensive, it turns out to be a limiting factor now.

Binding confirmation concerning FINESSE
iSYMED guarantees that the FINESSE data management software delivered since 1 April 1999 can be run with all its functions. This guarantee applies to all FINESSE software components contained on the distribution CD labeled with Version 6.0. Apart from this, the software can only be guaranteed trouble free, if the applied PC hardware and operating system components (Windows 95/98/NT, Novell NetWare) meet the year 2000 requirements as well. FINESSE versions lower V6.0 can not be guaranteed to run after the transition to year 2000. Especially all 16bit versions are affected by this. In all cases, iSYMED recommends that you carry out an UpDate to the latest version of FINESSE.
