FINESSE® - Flexible Integrated Network Sampling and Storage System - the experience proved and modular Dialysis Data Management computer system for planning, handling, quality control and documentation in dialysis units.

What is FINESSE® ?

FINESSE® commonly interpreted as a software package is much more than this. The FINESSE® intention is to transfer the whole necessary paper work of a dialysis unit to the computer. This means FINESSE® acts as Patient File and a Dialysis Treatment Protocol and a Quality check calculator and a Lab order/result presentation and billing interface offering all the advantages of graphical presentation and having all information at one glance. Of course these information like weight, blood pressure, dialysis machine data, lab results and much more has to get into the computer somehow. Here starts the real FINESSE® highlight: Almost every type of medical equipment used in a dialysis unit can be connected to the computer to transfer it's results directly without any need of writing it to paper. To make all this even easier, FINESSE® does not require confusing manual assignment of patients to a certain medical device, but includes a patient identification using small keys with an electronic chip inside, simply called patient keys.

What about the computer equipment ?

Here starts the FINESSE® flexibility. The minimum equipment needed to start is one standard IBM compatible PC running on Windows 95/98/NT which is used for the unit monitoring software CADia and the FINESSE® Database FINDB and one interface box called Bedside Data Concentrator to connect to all the medical equipment. The PC and the Bedside Data Concentrators are connected via a standard network connection. Every patient gets his personal Chip Key and on it goes...
If the needs are growing, FINESSE
® is growing. To add another Workstation PC is as easy as adding another Bedside Data Concentrator if the number of medical devices is growing. And the best of all: There is no limit! Connect as many Workstations as you need and connect as many medical devices as you need. Based on standard PC networks, FINESSE® of course integrates into Windows NT or Novell NetWare environments.

Is FINESSE® difficult to use ?

From it's very first start the FINESSE® system was developed very close to the user's needs based on feedback of the daily usage and always focusing the "paperless" dialysis unit which is now becoming reality in more and more units. Fully Windows based, self explaining screens and intuitive user interfaces offer high acceptance by the staff without the need of long training periods if once familiar with the usage of Windows. For the patients the use of the Patient Keys is as easy as opening a door. Insert the Key into the medical device and wait for the ready sign.
